Okay, so I admit, I've always been lucky with Alex when it comes to sleeping through the night. He started sleeping all the way through at about 3 months old, and hasn't had a problem since.
Until now.
Alex is now 15 months old. I know many kids will retain the two naps a day routine until they're two or even older. Alex is one of these kids. If he doesn't have a second nap during the day he literally will have a personality meltdown and become a grunting, crying mini-caveman. Apart from that, he will also simply lay down on the living room floor and go to sleep. The child knows what he wants when it comes to sleeping.
I know what you're thinking. SO?? Your toddler still takes two naps a day? And you're complaining? Shut up already.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I LOVE the fact that he still takes two naps. I'm able to get all sorts of things done (including blog posts!). The problem is that Alex is all of a sudden waking up multiple times a night. He'll simply wake up and be unconsolable until I pick him up. Once I pick him up, he simply lays his head on my shoulder and passes back out. I have literally been able to pick him up, then put him immediately back down (though that's not the norm) and he'll be sound asleep.

He does have fluid in his ears, and he is supposed to be getting tubes on March 15th. I'm just trying to figure out if the problem is seperation anxiety, or more health related. The ear, nose and throat doctor did say that pressure can build up the longer they are laying down, so this may very well clear up after the surgery.
I guess I can only wait and see, and just hope I'm not fostering bad habits in the meantime!
