Pray for Baby Kaleb

I consider myself to be an incredible cynic. I'm hardened in many ways to day in and day out horror stories we all hear on the news. But today I happened to open a bulletin on my myspace page, and my heart all but shattered.

There is a little boy lying in the ICU in Florida who desperately needs our prayers.

Kaleb Schwade was a happy, beautiful five month old baby. Until he was repeatedly shaken by a day care worker who has now, thankfully, been arrested. Personally, I don't think that's nearly enough. If this person is to blame, then I have a paint can mixer with her name on it.

Kaleb is now in the ICU with numerous issues and life-threatening problems. He may never be the same child he once was. Now I know that some of you are wondering if this is just one more of those random internet posts illiciting money or concern for a child that is perfectly fine, or not missing, etc. From what I can tell, this is completely true. If you check out the Help Kaleb page on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/helpkaleb you can check out the links to the news stories about little Kaleb. You can also check out Kaleb's mommy's page at myspace.com/kristyreynolds.

I don't claim to know the fear and the exhaustion and the total disbelief this family is going through. But I do recall ten miserable days in the hospital with my own son when no one could tell me what was going on, and nothing could be done to help my failing child. We got lucky. Our prayers paid off.

Now let's all put our prayers to work for baby Kaleb. Let's show his family that we can try to even out the evil Kaleb has had to experience with a generous helping of love and support.

Your blog is showing up as one long and thin column for me, don't know why. Perhaps because it's set as a 3 column blog and I have a smaller resolution. I'm probably not the only person who sees it like this though. It's impossible to read and I'd love to read your blog, could you see if you could fix it?
