The Sunday Seven

Yum, ice cream is the best!

For those of you who have graciously followed me from Parenting Toddlers here to Toddler Tactics, you'll notice the former Sunday Sixteen has been shortened a bit to the Sunday Seven. For those of you who are new to Toddler Tactics, the Sunday Seven is a run-down of all the vitally important information for this week ... more specifically, vitally important to ME. But it also touches on Alex's favorite things this week, and any behavior issues we're currently having. Which is where all you ever so knowledgable parents offer to step in and leave me a comment suggesting how I might handle said issues. So sit back, grab that cup of coffee, and enjoy!

The Sunday Seven

1. Lays Potato Chips are saving my life this week. They seem to be the only thing that soothes my morning sickness. This morning I had blueberry oatmeal with a side of Lay's Potato chips. Pregnancy makes you eat very, VERY strange combinations of food.

2. Alex's favorite foods this week, scrambled eggs with cheese, lima beans with butter, and fresh blueberries. Though he doesn't eat all his favorites at the same time like I do.

3. Having morning sickness, taking care of an inquisitive toddler, working part time from home, and doing all this without your husband during the week really sucks. I have more respect for single moms than I ever thought I could at this point.

4. I STILL can't get Alex to walk on his own. He'll take two or three steps on his own, but then is right back down and crawling around. If we try to illicit the walking, "walk to Daddy", "walk to Mommy" etc, then he simply laughs and drops immediately to a crawl. Any tips?

5. Talking however, is certainly not going to be a problem. Alex talks to everything. His toys, his grandparents, the pets, even, on occasion, the kitchen table.

6. Alex has discovered the lazy susan in the kitchen. I think he considers it toddler nirvana, since it's where I keep his sippy cups, his bowls, his snacks, cookies, crackers, and every other toddler themed food item you can imagine. Nowadays I can't so much as pee without coming out to the kitchen to find ALL of it spread out across the floor.

7. Best Blogs to read this week: Thingamababy - Neat ideas on toddler and baby products from a Dad's point of view. And An English Mum - gotta love that sense of humor. She's always got me close to peeing in my pants I'm laughing so hard!

i have the same problem with my girls their almost 12 months and love to crawl...they can stand even take a step or two, but find crawling that much easier, i guess in their own due time they will be walking but if you find some helpful tips please let me know

About the walking thing - do not encourage it under any circumstances. It just makes them taller and able to get to places where you don't want them much faster! Enjoy the short bum waggling stage while you still can!

Ooh, and thanks for the cool comments too - dead chuffed! (- an English colloquialism for 'well pleased').
